Information on the Battery Regulation

Information on the disposal of used batteries

The following information is intended for anyone who uses batteries or products with built-in batteries and does not resell them in the form supplied (end users).

Proper disposal of used batteries

Batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. You are legally obliged to dispose of used batteries properly by taking them to an official recycling center. You must dispose of used batteries at a municipal collection point or an authorized recycling facility in your area. Retailers and distributors are not obliged to take back used batteries. Please ensure that you dispose of batteries in accordance with local regulations.

Meaning of the battery symbols

Batteries are marked with the symbol of a crossed-out wheeled bin. This symbol indicates that batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. For batteries containing more than 0.0005% mercury, more than 0.002% cadmium, or more than 0.004% lead, the chemical symbol of the respective pollutant is indicated below the wheeled bin symbol – "Cd" stands for cadmium, "Pb" for lead, and "Hg" for mercury.
