Direct-to-Garment (DTG) – environmentally friendly

Many of our garments are printed using innovative Direct-to-Garment (DTG) technology. This process involves applying ink directly onto the fabric, allowing it to soak into the fibers – similar to printing on paper, but on textiles.

We use Kornit printing machines, which generate hardly any wastewater and consume significantly less energy compared to traditional industrial equipment. The inks used are Oeko-Tex certified, vegan, water-based, and free from harmful substances. We dispose of excess ink strictly according to our suppliers' guidelines – for maximum environmental safety.

Embroidery with a clear conscience

For our embroidery, we exclusively use 100% recycled polyester threads. These are also Oeko-Tex certified and therefore completely safe for both adult and children's clothing. Compared to printing, embroidery is particularly durable and produces less waste as there are no ink residues. A quality feature that lasts a long time – and is sustainable.

Sustainable materials – clearly defined

At Georg Werner, our sustainable products are made from at least 70% organic or recycled materials (or a mixture thereof). All beauty products in this collection are certified natural.

To guarantee these material claims, we only accept official certificates:

  • Organic content: GOTS or OCS certificate

  • Recycled content: GRS or RCS certificate

  • Natural cosmetics: Ecocert COSMOS certificate

This is how we ensure that for every sustainable product, we know which verified standard stands behind it.

Where do these certificates come from?

We source our blank goods from two partners – and the evidence situation varies not only by material but also by product line. For our GOTS-certified organic cotton, there is clear, publicly accessible proof: our Spreadconnect supplier Stanley/Stella labels GOTS parts individually with a Control Union license number (CU 819434) and provides the certificate online for verification (Source: Stanley/Stella). For our functional polyester goods, there are two lines with different documentation: our sports jerseys (e.g., SurfLegend, AW series) are processed via Printful based on the SOL'S 11939 blank – certified according to the manufacturer's data sheet as OEKO-TEX Standard 100 (reference CQ 1094/1 IFTH), which confirms tested freedom from harmful substances, but not recycled content; it is standard polyester, not Printful's separately managed recycled variant. Our JAKO jerseys (e.g., Skydive, BaseJump, MotoX, WingSuit) are processed via Spreadconnect: the manufacturer JAKO states "100% polyester (recycled)" as the material on its own product page and confirms on its sustainability page that it uses recycled polyester as a key sustainable material and requires external certificates or test reports for it (Source: JAKO product page, Source: JAKO sustainability). We do not currently have a specific certificate number for this individual product – unlike with our organic cotton. As soon as we have it, we will add it here.
