Glossary

A glossary covering sustainable sportswear and print-on-demand – explained through the terms that actually appear in our range and our production.

Certifications & Sustainability

What does GRS-certified mean?

GRS stands for Global Recycled Standard – an international certification that verifies the share of recycled material in a product as well as the chain from raw material source to finished garment. A GRS label guarantees that at least 20% recycled materials were used and that social and environmental standards are upheld along the supply chain. Our Performance Wear collection →

What is OEKO-TEX?

OEKO-TEX is an independent testing label for textiles that ensures a garment is free from harmful chemicals and residues. For sportswear worn directly against the skin, this label is especially relevant. More on our printing and embroidery methods →

What is organic cotton?

Cotton grown under controlled organic farming, without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. In our range it’s used, for example, in the NG models and the Retro shirts: 100% organic ring-spun cotton. Our Retro Shirts collection (GOTS-certified organic cotton) →

What does "sustainable fashion" actually mean?

The term has become inflated on clothing labels. Concrete, verifiable criteria include: certified materials (GRS, OEKO-TEX), production on demand instead of stockpiling (see print-on-demand), and transparent supply chains. More in our blog article →

Production & Business Model

A production model where each garment is only printed and made after an order comes in – instead of being mass-produced and held in stock. This reduces overproduction and warehouse waste. We produce through our POD partner Printful, with delivery typically taking about 7 business days. How does print-on-demand work? →

What is GPSR (General Product Safety Regulation)?

The EU regulation on general product safety, which applies to all consumer goods sold in the EU – including clothing. Retailers must, among other things, provide a responsible contact address.

What is AI-assisted design?

At print-on-demand brands like ours, artwork is sometimes created with AI assistance and openly disclosed on the website – an increasingly relevant transparency point for customers. Our transparency notice →

A close-fitting, functional top originally from water sports (surfing, swimming) that protects against friction, UV exposure, and chilling. We offer it, for example, as an all-over print rash guard in the Surflegend line. Our Water Nomads collection →

All-over print

A printing method where the design covers the entire surface of the garment seamlessly – as opposed to a classic chest or back print.

Recycled longline sports bra

A sports bra made from recycled material with a longer cut (covers more of the midriff) – combining function with sustainable material. Our Performance Wear collection →

Unisex fit

A pattern that doesn’t distinguish between classic men’s/women’s sizing but is cut the same for all body types – the standard for most of our sports jerseys.

Snapback / cuffed beanie

Two common headwear styles in our range: the snapback cap with an adjustable closure, and the cuffed beanie (a knit hat with a folded-up brim).
